Profile

IAA was established in August 2004 as a non-profit making ‘Model School of Excellence’ by her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, as part of Her Majesty’s charitable organization, the Jordanian Education Society (JES).  JES works to raise the standards of education across Jordan as a whole and IAA aims to liaise with local government schools by sharing good practice through mutual peer observations, shared INSET days and generally opening up ongoing pedagogical dialogues.

As a predominantly three-form entry school from Reception 1 to Grade 10, we currently have 730 children on roll.  Our intentions are to increase this number to 900 students.

In just four years, IAA has gone from strength to strength and expanded ist student numbers and, therefore, its facilities tremendously.  In September 2008, we took up residence in our new purpose-built building with state-of-the-art facilities designed by Khaled Nahass who is one of the top architects in Jordan.

Facilities

The Board of Trustees, chaired by Her Majesty Queen Rania, believes in supporting the educational provision of our IAA staff by ensuring the school is equipped with all of the state-of-the-art resources and equipment necessary to maintain IAA’s reputation as a ‘Model School of Excellence’.  The campuses at IAA are second to none. Class rooms have the latest interactive whiteboard, with numerous accompanying software packages; the school boasts a 450-seater theatre / conference centre. Currently being finished are a large Sports Hall, an athletics track with surrounding stadium; a large swimming pool and a two storey Learning Resource Centre.

The site, adjacent to the landmark King Hussein mosque, combines 21st century concepts, such as our modernistic symbolic statues at the entrance to the school, with traditional Arabic culture, which includes 300-year old olive trees in our Community Garden, imported straight from Jerash.
